Overview:

The  Operations Manager  primary role will be to care for and guide campers as they engage in;- fun activities, adventurous challenges, and spiritually rich community. Operations Manager will serve under the leadership of Full-time and Seasonal BlueSky staff who are experienced, professional, and faithfully following Jesus in their lives. It is an opportunity for them to grow in their personal faith, strengthen character through serving others, develop leadership and professional skills, and build positive friendships with peers. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with camp leadership and other staff members to implement camp programs and create a Christ-centered, fun, and safe environment for campers and other staff members.

  • Provide leadership, motivation and support camp staff to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

  • Execute emergency procedures and compliance with camp rules to minimize camper accidents. Ensure adequate safety supplies and coordinate availability of safety equipment (for example: fire fighting equipment) with Brackenhurst.  

    Maintaining and overseeing proper use of : 

    • Camp facilities -Liaison with Brackenhurst on the use of the dining area, Tsavo, Saunders & cabins. Report any damage and coordinate necessary repairs. 

    • Grounds - Liaison with Brackenhurst to confirm the grounds are fit for use eg: spraying of safari ants, removing of fallen trees, e.t.c.

    • Equipment - Communicate Audio/Visual needs and technical problems as needed for Tsavo.

    • Utilities - Communicate disruption of utilities, such as hot water and electricity in all spaces in use by staff and campers. Coordinate with Activities Coordinator that Brackenhurst purchases fire wood and kerosene for summit Fires.

      • Coordinating logistics:

        • Bookings

          • Lodging numbers, including the accurate number of bunk beds per room.

    • Food services - Advise head chef of daily total meals required on and off camps (Kenya/Kili and One Day Camp). 

    • Medical Supplies - work with the camp nurse for any medication purchases.

      Qualifications:

  • A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis.

  • Heart for the nations with proven spiritual leadership experience.

  • Passion for adventure and the outdoors, along with a deep commitment to Christian faith and values.

  • You must be aged 19 years and above.

  • Must have a genuine interest in promoting a positive, safe, and fun environment for children.

  • Given the nature of many camp programs, being physically fit is a crucial requirement.

  • Ability to lead and inspire campers and team members

  • Effective in communicating with campers and staff.

    Be able to address issues and conflict that may arise between Camp Staff and Brackenhurst

  • Must be patient and have compassion for campers and fellow staff.

  • Must be flexible and responsive to changing situations.

  • Having skills or knowledge in activities offered in camp can be advantageous.

  • Ability to work cooperatively  with other staff members and integrate into the camp’s community.

  • Willingness to commit for at least 3 weeks (1 staff training week and 2 Camp sessions)
